In line with the current Government restrictions, regrettably St Mary’s Church is unable to open for public worship. The Church will, however, be open for Private Prayer on Sunday mornings between 11.00am and 12 noon when it will, of course, be necessary to strictly observe all the guidelines regarding social distancing and hygiene. You will be required to wear a mask and hand sanitiser will be available as you enter the church. You can read a summary of the guidelines here and there are clear instructions on entering the church about how to observe these protocols to keep everybody safe. We will update this page once the current restrictions are lifted.
Where possible, we will make our services available to join via Zoom: these will include a morning and evening service on Sundays and a morning service on Wednesdays, If you would like to join in with these services, please contact the Parish Office at email@example.com
The life of the church carries on. Rev’d Abbey has compiled some booklets for us to share: please click here to read her ‘Book of Prayers and Reflections’ and here to read her ‘Little Book of Comfort’. She has also prepared a ‘Book of Prayers for Reflection and Times of Stillness‘ specifically for this lockdown period and the time leading up to Advent.
We continue to produce a weekly sheet which contains the readings for Sunday, a reflection on the readings and the lectionary for Morning and Evening Prayer for the week ahead. The following links will take you to the orders of service for the week commencing Sunday 29 November, Advent 1: Service of the Word and a Reflection on the Gospel. And the following link will take you to the Church of England’s website where you can find daily prayers https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-and-worship/join-us-service-daily-prayer.
We want to emphasise that St Mary’s is here for everyone – if you or anyone you know would like to receive the prayer materials, weekly sheet or have a regular pastoral phone call please do let us know, and remember you can contact us by phone at any time.
The Parish Office is open on Tuesday mornings and Fridays, 0191 374 1079. If there is no answer, please leave a message and we will call back as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have an emergency, please ring Rev’d Abbey on 07377 146110 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
