Richard is being priested on Saturday 2 July at 5pm in Durham Cathedral. We will be ordering tickets. If you would like to go, please sign up on the list in church by <em>Friday 3 June</em>. There will then be a united eucharist at St Giles' at 10am on Sunday 3 July when Richard will celebrate the eucharist for the first time - followed by a picnic!

Join East Durham Churches together as we walk from Baths Bridge to St Laurence’s Church, Pittington. Bring a packed lunch. If you prefer not to walk but would like to visit the church, and learn about the small pilgrim places network, meet at St Laurence at 2.00pm for refreshments.

Sherburn Messy Church Holiday Club will run again in August at St Mary's Church, Sherburn. There will be stories, videos, discussion groups, arts & crafts and games. Lunch will be provided on all of the days.

Following the Holiday Club there will be a special Friends and Family service at St Mary's on Sunday 21 August at 10.45am.

Michael Richardson will give a talk about the history of Durham City and the surrounding area through old photos on Thursday 8 September at 7pm at St Mary's. Tickets are on sale for £3 which includes refreshments.

Over the weekend of 10-11 September, St Mary's will host their Patronal Festival. On the 10th, the church will be open for tea & coffee and scones, then on the 11th there will be a Back to Church Sunday All-Age communion service at 10.45am, followed by a bring-and-share lunch. 

Join us on 25th September for our next Season of Invitation Sunday event. This will be our friends and family harvest festival celebration. Usual gifts of tinned and dried food for the FoodBank and veg/flowers to decorate our churches welcome at all of our services.

Join us for the East Durham Churches Together Harvest Thanksgiving Service at St Cuthbert's. We welcome the Salvation Army Band and the Revd Tim Ferguson, Chaplain to Hild-Bede College, Durham University and Bridging-the-Gap officer for Durham Diocese as visiting preacher. The service will be followed by Harvest Broth.

At the service, gifts of tinned and dried food for the Durham Foodbank will be welcome.

Jolly Boys Show featuring fantastic band ‘Twister’ in Sherburn Village Working Men’s Club. £3 including buffet. Money goes to St Mary’s Church, Sherburn and to St Joseph’s RC Church, Gilesgate.

Our annual All Souls Memorial Services will happen this year on Sunday 6 November:  3.30pm in St Mary's & 6pm in St Giles'. We invite all the families of those for whom we have conducted funerals this year and we remember them in prayer first. But if you would like to come and remember someone precious to you, then you are of course most welcome too. Sign up lists go up in church from 16 October (or do send a message to one of the clergy). As always if you are unable to attend because of ill health or you are away, please add names. Otherwise if you are including names on the list to be remembered in prayer, we trust that you will be able to join us for the service.

Our Spectacular Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday 26 November 9-11.30am. With special guests Santa Claus (and his elf) , Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and Damian the Magician. A magical morning for everyone!

Come and sing carols with the Salvation Army Band in the Car Park in Sherburn Hill. There will be activities for families from 6pm with carols in the car park from 7pm. All are welcome.

Join us in the pub for beer and carols in the Lambton Arms. Money from the event goes to the Huntington's Disease Assocation and St Mary's Church. All welcome.
