Richard is being priested on Saturday 2 July at 5pm in Durham Cathedral. We will be ordering tickets. If you would like to go, please sign up on the list in church by <em>Friday 3 June</em>. There will then be a united eucharist at St Giles' at 10am on Sunday 3 July when Richard will celebrate the eucharist for the first time - followed by a picnic!

Sherburn Messy Church Holiday Club will run again in August at St Mary's Church, Sherburn. There will be stories, videos, discussion groups, arts & crafts and games. Lunch will be provided on all of the days.
Following the Holiday Club there will be a special Friends and Family service at St Mary's on Sunday 21 August at 10.45am.

We welcome the Salvation Army Band and the Revd Tim Ferguson, Chaplain to Hild-Bede College, Durham University and Bridging-the-Gap officer for Durham Diocese as visiting preacher. The service will be followed by Harvest Broth.
At the service, gifts of tinned and dried food for the Durham Foodbank will be welcome.

Our annual All Souls Memorial Services will happen this year on Sunday 6 November: 3.30pm in St Mary's & 6pm in St Giles'. We invite all the families of those for whom we have conducted funerals this year and we remember them in prayer first. But if you would like to come and remember someone precious to you, then you are of course most welcome too. Sign up lists go up in church from 16 October (or do send a message to one of the clergy). As always if you are unable to attend because of ill health or you are away, please add names. Otherwise if you are including names on the list to be remembered in prayer, we trust that you will be able to join us for the service.

St Mary's Poppy Festival - 10am-4pm Thursday - Saturday | 12pm - 4pm Sunday
St. Mary’s Church will be decorated with Poppies and memorabilia from WW1, in addition St. Mary’s is celebrating the award of “There but not there” Twenty One Silhouettes funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust which will form the major part of our Festival and we hope will bring our Community together to remember and to think about the Armed Forces today.
Entry is free, donations are welcome. Detailed below is a list of planned features on display around the Church, please do visit.
- Windows full of Poppies, WW1 Medals, Memorabilia and War Poems from WW1
- “There but not there” Twenty one Silhouettes located around the Church to remember the Twenty one soldiers from the Village who lost their lives.

Mothers’ Union

St Mary’s Mothers’ Union meets monthly, usually on a Monday afternoon. The group is concerned with all issues affecting family life in modern society, and is involved in charitable work at home and abroad. Men and women, of all ages and in any family circumstance, are very welcome to join us.
